I am SO excited to add TWO challenge boards to the Imperfect Music Studio this fall! The first board has 8 different challenges for students to choose from:
Scale
Technique
Chord
Musical Terms
Spotlight
Listening
Where appropriate, each challenge will have a custom challenge for each level of student and/or instrument. So the Primer Level Piano Scale challenge will be very different from the Level 2B Piano Scale challenge and the Beginning Saxophone challenge. Below is a sneak peak at the challenge board.
One of the goals with this board is to have a lot of fun... though the word "challenge" is there for a reason - they will be challenging! Another goal for the board is to refine skills and even develop new skills. I SO look forward to seeing my students learn and grow as they take on new challenges.
And because the challenges will be challenging, each student will pick 2-3 challenges to focus on, rather than trying to get their name on the board for ALL of the challenges.
The second challenge board is called the "Polished Piece Challenge." And for each piece a student learns from September 2024 through August 2025, they will put a sticker on the board. This includes ALL pieces they learn... pieces for studio recitals, holiday pieces, or just their weekly lesson material.
I'll have a special prize for the student who learns the most pieces over the course of the year, but students will also be earning certificates for every 10 pieces that they learn, allowing each student to focus both on a small goal and a big goal:
